| What’s up guys, Blackbird69 here to discuss a term that is very commonly known/used in the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! The word is netdeck(ing). If you are unfamiliar with this term, then a solid definition would be: seeing another person’s deck, typically one that has done well at a large-scale event, and copying it. Netdecking is almost always used derogatorily, as many duelists believe that it undermines creativity, and is similar to plagiarism. I however, strongly believe that netdecking is good under most circumstances. I am personally liable for “netdecking”, and have been accused of it many times by players who are unhappy with the result of a duel. Obviously, copying a deck card-for-card is not a great thing to do, but it gives players a strong starting point for making a solid deck. It is similar to making an outline for a research paper. You need to have structure for which to build your deck. No matter how good a top deck is, however, it will not always work for the netdecker, because they are either unfamiliar with all of the combos, or it does not fit their play style. This is where tech cards come in. Never in my dueling career, have I used a deck that was totally copied from another player. I always put in a large number of cards that make the deck more “blackbird friendly.” Please leave comments below with your opinions on netdecking. I am curious to hear what everybody has to say.

| to elaborate on my last comment netdecking is one of the worst things about the game right now. Everyone lacks innovation and doesnt know how to play a skilled deck anymore or use cards that the 'Pros" dont use. Sometimes you have to step outside of your comfort zone and play a deck that isnt auto pilot but at the same time create something that isnt god awful. Just my 2 cents |

| I agree blackbird, a netdecked deck just doesn't work, remember that time dark worlds topped a ycs a while back? In my opinion that was a terrible build, but he topped cuz he knew what all the tech did and how to play it, i would never run malefic stardust in that deck, but he somehow made it work, which is pretty impressive to me. I think its all on the player to take decks like that and make them their own, a fun one for that would be grandsoil psychics, which definately has a weird playstyle. |
